Cricket fans of 12 foreign nations to be under special vigilance

Cricket fans of 12 countries, who will be traveling to Bangladesh for watching the ICC Cricket World Cup will be under special vigilance to avert any unpleasant incident.
Sources said a list of foreign suspected persons, especially from 12 countries including Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Nigeria, Yemen, Algeria and Egypt, has already handed over to the immigration police.
Nearly 15,000 foreign nationals are expected to visit Bangladesh to watch the ICC cricket world cup.
Opening ceremony of the World Cup will be held at Bangubandhu National Stadium on Thursday, while six matches of the first round and two quarters finals will be held in Bangladesh.
The authorities have tightened the security and stepped up vigilance at Shahjalal International Airport to ensure safety of cricket players, officials and fans.
The Airport Armed Police (AAP), responsible for ensuring foolproof security of the Shahjalal International Airport has already taken special measures as part of the overall security that covers the capital under security blanket on the eve of ICC World Cup.

International Police Organisation (Interpol) handed over the list to the Bangladesh authority so that the listed suspects can not enter the county evading the eyes of the immigration police.
The Interpol also asked the immigration authority to take extra cautionary measures when cricket fans especially those from 12 countries will pass through immigration check points.
Sources said information about international terrorists, militants as well as suspected persons has already been sent to the database of the immigration police at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport and Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport so the immigration police can cross check the lists after arrival of the foreign nationals.
Besides, the immigration police at land ports have also been asked to be alert so no suspect can enter the country.
